Polypropylene (PP for short) is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic and belongs to the group of polyolefins. Its special properties ensure an enormously broad spectrum of applications, ranging from interior trim for passenger cars to fittings and piping in the construction industry, carpets, sports textiles, and packaging materials such as bottle caps or thermal transport boxes. But that’s not all: even banknotes, so-called polymer banknotes, are produced on PP. These banknotes have a longer shelf life and offer additional security features.
